Okay you guys, hands-down, our biggest regret in life has to be not applying to go on The Bachelor. Who cares what season, because the main objective would have been just to get on this year’s Bachelor in Paradise to meet Apollo Jackson.
My oh my oh my, when that Greek God opened those gates of heaven and entered Paradise, our heart’s skipped a beat. Every time the camera focuses on Apollo, we can’t stop singing Selena Gomez’s ‘Can’t Keep My Hands to Myself’. TBH, it’s like we’ve been hit with G-rated porn.
But what amazes us besides his amazingly structured face and ripped AF body, is the fact that he’s also incredibly smart, funny and kind – qualities that are pretty damn difficult to find in any man these days (soz guys, but it’s the truth).
Although the magician was born with a heart of gold, his eight-pack didn’t come naturally. In fact, the 25-year-old fits in quite a lot of exercise to maintain his toned bod.
“I like to mix things up but generally I wake up and go for a run or walk on the beach to get ready for the day,” he exclusively tells myBodyandSoul.
“Just after lunch I’ll head to the gym for 40 minutes of high intensity exercise with supersets, weight circuits and lots of core work, followed by stretches.”
But it doesn’t stop there – boys, I hope you’re reading this.
“Throughout the week I like to throw in some fun stuff like surfing with the boys in the afternoon, meeting a friend to play tennis or trying a new sport.”
Well Apollo, if you’re in need of a tennis partner, our schedules will always be free for you.
He also makes sure he eats a tonne of fruit and veggies throughout the day, proving your diet is just as important as exercise when it comes down to getting ripped.
“I’m a big eater but I keep it balanced. I have the same belief with eating as I do exercise, if you don’t enjoy it, you won’t stick to it,” the Lenovo ambassador says.
“I love stir fries, cooking Mexican food and a good healthy breakfast like eggs and avocado on toast.” (hey, looks like we have so much in common).
And when he feels like indulging in something sweet, he listens to his body.
“After dinner I have a few squares of chocolate or Tim Tams, and on the weekend I don’t think about what I’m eating, I have a burger and chips and don’t feel guilty.” (OMG, so much in common it’s scary)
And when Apollo’s not hitting the weights, hanging out with friends, running errands, or in the kitchen being a total Masterchef babe (FYI he cooked for everyone in The Bachelorette mansion), he makes sure he winds down, relaxes, and gets in touch with his inner-child.
“I’m a big gamer and sci-fi addict and at the moment I’m obsessed with Lenovo’s Star Wars Jedi Challenges augmented reality headset. It’s super immersive and it means that I’ll literally be battling Darth Vadar (albeit a virtual one) in my living room.”
But as smooth sailing as his life may seem on television, it hasn’t and isn’t always pure bliss. Rewind back three years ago and he was struck with a heart attack – something that he remembers as the toughest situation he’s encountered, both mentally and physically.
“When it happened, I had to come to terms with the fact I could die in the next 10 minutes. I was staring death in the face but the fact that I got through it changed my outlook on life.”
And that tragic experience has made Apollo look at everything with a positive spin by ensuring he makes the most out of every experience and lives every day like it’s the last. If you want to walk around with a charming smile like his every day of the year, then we suggest you take his life tips on board.
First and foremost, “no matter how busy you are, take time to relax and centre yourself every single day. This is the key to ensuring longevity for work, your fitness regime and everything else.
Secondly, “don’t be afraid to set goals, no matter how small or big. You’d be surprised how amazing you feel when you tick off a goal.
And lastly, “have a laugh, life isn’t supposed to be too intense.”
While we wait for Apollo to come out of Paradise and back into civilisation, we’ll live our dreams of being by his side through our television screen. Also, what gym do you train at Apollo? Asking for a friend…
For more Bachelor in Paradise goss, this is what Keira was doing when the cameras weren’t rolling, and Megan Marx admits she ate two burgers every day in Paradise but still managed to stay fit.
