Diana Johnson and Felicia Oreb, the fit sister duo behind Base Body Babes, became a big deal in fitness a few years back.
Since then, they’ve been busy hustling and growing their Sydney gym/café hybrid, training local celebs and themselves.
Known for their strong physiques (and seriously amazing abs), the two are the poster girls for weight training for women, which is why they’ve joined Braun Power Players, as part of their latest campaign.
Apart from DNA, the duo share a serious devotion to their shoedrobe and strength training, and swear by four specific exercises to transform any body.
“For lower body the best strength training exercises has to be the squat and deadlift and for upper body it has to be the bench press and chin up,” the Base Body Babes tell myBody+Soul.
Yep, they’re a ‘we’, not a ‘me’ (and you thought your bestie could finish your sentences).
“When we consider what could be the most underrated exercise, it has to be a 45 or 90-degree back extension. It’s difficult to perform incorrectly and strengthens the muscles of the posterior chain – hamstrings, glutes and the erector spinae muscles. When these muscles are well developed, not only does it look good, but it creates the foundation for a strong, functional, injury free body that is ready to take on the demands of life,” says the pair.
In other words, bringing sexy back.
While personally their workouts can be anywhere up to two hours (we’re sweating just thinking about it), the girl bosses have one thing they hate to waste – and that’s time – so you know every minute of their workout counts.
“Our lives are so busy that we like to be very efficient and allocate the necessary time we need to support each aspect of our life. We find it difficult to balance work and life at the best of times, so spending our time wisely on each is so important for us.”
That always involves a big breakfast, their favourite meal of the day and a non-negotiable in their morning routine.
“Scrambled eggs, rice loaf toast, smashed avocado, heirloom tomatoes and basil salad would be our last meal,” say the sisters.
And while Keto, vegetarian, vegan and other diet camps are thriving, the self-confessed food lovers never say never, to whole food groups or ‘sometimes treats’ – soft drink excluded. Nope, you won’t find a can of Coca Cola in their fridge under any circumstances.
“All of the unnecessary sugar and artificial flavours are just something we have absolutely no desire to put inside our body, as we know it has no health benefit whatsoever.”
While they look and sound the picture of motivation, turns out, Diana and Felicia are only human, admitting this one lazy habit.
“We’re too lazy for hair removal! Shaving our legs every other day is not something we look forward to at all. Thankfully we have recently been introduced to the Braun Silk-epil 9 SkinSpa which has five beauty treatments in one including an epilation, exfoliation and massage system.”
