Everyone has something they’d change about their body if they could. Mine is arms (and abs if we’re being totally honest). So when I saw Jennifer Garner on the red carpet recently, I just about died of envy. Like, have you seen those arms? She isn’t even flexing and they are already literal perfection. #goals
So I did a little research and found out that Jennifer has been working with holy-grail trainer Simone De La Rue, founder of Body by Simone. Apparently the pair have been working out together for years, but took things to a whole new level in preparation for Jen’s role in upcoming action film Peppermint.
“We knew that we needed to look like an action figure,” Simone told WomensHealthMag.com, “So obviously we needed to target the arms.”
To achieve that level of toned perfection, the pair worked out for a couple of hours each day for six days a week. Now that’s a serious commitment to fitness.
“We worked on lifting heavier weights, usually around 15 pounds,” the trainer said.
“We also did a lot of bodyweight work, and supplemented with my custom resistance bands.”
The training guru can’t praise resistance bands enough. She said that they are a great way to work out on-the-go. Just chuck them in a bag and whip them out whenever you have a second. Simone especially recommends using them to do an overhead press.
The pair didn’t forget the good old triceps workout either. It may seem old school but you can’t look past triceps extensions and dips to get that perfect arm definition.
Jennifer also loved the Body by Simone App, which gives users access to custom workouts, training and live streaming, Simone said.
Maybe one day I’ll be able to wear a singlet out of the house after all.
