Melania Trump, 47, chose a heavily patterned black dress for a state dinner with Donald Trump, China’s President Xi Jinping and first lady Peng Liyuan at the Great Hall of the People.
In an obvious nod to the country, Melania’s dress was heavily embroidered with a Chinese-style design.
The shape of the dress was also reminiscent of traditional Chinese clothing.
But is was a rare fashion mis-step for the First Lady, who chose a dress with a bizarre fur-trim on the sleeves.
The pink colour of the fur echoed throughout the pattern of the dress.
Taking the pink theme further, Melania matched her shoes to the colour, wearing powder pink suede courts.
As with her outfit today, Melania did not wear any jewellery, instead letting the print of her dress take over.
She also kept her hair and make-up the same as earlier in the day.
Earlier today, Melania drowned her figure in a black maxi dress. The item came up to her neck and past her feet on the floor.
A heavy white floral brocade print featured down the middle and on the sleeves of the dress.
Smaller, more delicate pink flowers could also be seen decorating the dress.
As the print was so striking, Melania opted not to wear jewellery with her outfit.
She kept her hair in a curled blow-dry, and her make-up sleek and simple.
The black maxi is in stark contrast to other outfits the First Lady has worn on this trip.
Melania wore a see-through navy dress in a lace net design with appliqué details to attend a dinner with South Korea’s President Moon Jae-In at the presidential Blue House in Seoul.
She wore a flesh-coloured slip under the gown to preserve her modesty.
