“That is 10kg heavier than a few years ago and each and every single day that I look at my body I am so overly grateful.”

Carla Fink is a 27-year-old personal trainer from Melbourne, who says weights training transformed her life – and in 2018, it could have the same affect on yours, too.
With the silly season in full swing, signing up to a new fitness regimen isn’t as high on the agenda as popping bottles – but if you’re thinking of taking on a new challenge in the new year, Fink makes a compelling case for heavy lifting.
The fitness expert, whose presses and lifts have earnt her more than 7,000 followers on Instagram, can lift just under 143kg (!) and doesn’t want other women to be deterred from this type of exercise, or buy into the myths associated with it.
“This was me straight out of bed yesterday morning, weighing 55.3kg,” Fink wrote to her audience on Instagram last night.
“That is 10kg heavier than a few years ago and each and every single day that I look at my body I am so overly grateful I fell in love with training.
“It has completely transformed my body and most importantly, my mind. It has opened up new doors and new paths, as well as meeting new people that share this same love.
“To all those that say ‘don’t do deadlifts, it will make your waist too thick’ or ‘don’t lift too much, you’ll start to look masculine’ or ‘don’t leg press or squat heavy cause your thighs will be too thick’,” Fink wants you to consider where you’re getting this kind of information from, and let the results of a consistent regime speak for themselves.
Fink, who, by her own admission, used to burn the candle at both ends, recently shared another post about how transformative a new lifestyle can be – and encourages others to simply start their fitness journey.
“That girl on the left was partying most weekends, mostly ALL weekend. Minimal food, minimal sleep and surprisingly, minimal confidence. .
“I partied myself into the ground… quite literally. I won’t go into detail however, it is never too late to change your ways.
“There is 10kg difference between photos, pretty surprising isn’t it? It takes time and dedication to get these results but know that it is possible… and if you are looking for a personal trainer, I would love to help you feel better about the body you have to live in.”
