Yes, you read that right. We’ve had hot yoga, goat yoga, puppy yoga and even beer yoga, and now a sweeter trend’s arrived just in time for Easter. While the words ‘chocolate’ and ‘yoga’ might sound mutually exclusive, this new trend is proof that you really can combine “ommm” with “nom nom nom”.
Made popular by UK-based yoga instructor Guzel Mursalimova, chocolate yoga (which even has its own hashtag) blends the proven mood-boosting powers of meditation, cocoa and downward-dog. During a class, students practise mindfulness by nibbling on a piece of dark choc and focusing on its smell, taste and feel, before being led through a yoga session.
Both dark chocolate and yoga have been linked to improved heart health, increased energy and better stress management, so if you can’t find a class near you just yet, give it a go at home.
