Laura Hamilton reveals her favourite style and beauty tips
She lives in Purley, south London, with her businessman husband Alex Goward and their children Rocco, four, and two-year-old Tahlia.
How would you describe your style?
Summery. Since joining A Place In The Sun I haven’t experienced a British winter. I’ve had two children since then and take them with me to where I’m working, so my style has become more practical.
Which colours and shapes suit you best?
My favourite is yellow, but I also love coral, turquoise and red, plus bold prints. I’ve always been curvy and like a 50s shape with a nipped-in waist or tailored styles. My weight has gone up and down. I lost loads after having Tahlia. However, I opened a coffee shop/post office in the village where I live and put a lot back on as I’m a regular visitor.

I like to style my hair in different ways when filming. If I’m somewhere windy it looks so much neater
How many outfits do you need for the show?
I mainly wear dresses and buy two the same for each show – one to wear, one to wash – because we film over a week. I wear a different outfit for the closing sequence. Bearing in mind I film around 24 shows each year, that’s a lot of outfits and once I’ve worn them I can’t wear them again on-screen, so most end up going to charity.
What are your essentials for looking good in the sun?
I carry a Mac bronzer, Mac Studio face and body tint and Mac Ruby Woo and Velvet Teddy lipsticks. Before I go away I have a lash and brow tint. I’m a natural blonde so I need more definition, otherwise I look washed out.
Which is your favourite fashion era?
The 50s because of the dress shapes and up-dos. I like to style my hair in different ways when filming. If I’m somewhere windy it looks so much neater.
50s fashion is Laura’s favourite, specifically dress shape
Which are your favourite high-street brands?
Oasis, New Look, SilkFred and, online, Look Again.
Who is your favourite designer?
I don’t buy a lot of designer clothes, although I like to treat myself to designer sunglasses at airports. I’m lucky that my husband buys me designer pieces for birthdays and special occasions.
Are you a hoarder or do you clear out your wardrobe each season?
I have regular clear-outs and donate to The Children’s Trust Tadworth or charity events at my village shop. It was being sold for redevelopment but I bought it, reinstated the post office, combined it with a coffee shop/deli and it’s now a community hub.

How many shoes and handbags do you own?
About 60 pairs of shoes and 30 handbags. Most of my designer bags were gifts, including my Miu Miu, which was a present on my 30th birthday from the A Place In The Sun team. It’s gorgeous. I treated myself to my first designer handbag, a Chloé Paddington, when I was 22 and got my first TV presenting job.
What is the best fashion advice you’ve been given?
Never wear clothes that are too tight, even if it means buying a size up. Sizes vary, so don’t get hung up on what the label says.
What is your current favourite outfit?
My SilkFred pleather jeans with a big yellow chunky knit, £7.99 from Amazon, and heels. It’s perfect for the school run.
How much do you spend on clothes each month?
About £400, mainly on clothes for work.

What is the most expensive item in your wardrobe? And best bargain?
A winter coat by Beaumont that Alex bought me and cost over a grand. My yellow chunky knit is the best bargain.
What is the oldest item in your wardrobe?
My Chloé Paddington bag.
Who made your wedding dress?
I wore a white, strapless, fitted style with a puddle train by Stephanie Allin and black satin shoes by Aruna Seth. The colour theme was black and white and the bridesmaids’ dresses were black. They were happy as they could wear them afterwards. We married in Chipstead and the reception was in a marquee in my in-laws’ garden.

Do you have a favourite little black dress?
I have a couple – a 50s-style from SilkFred and a more fitted style from Forever Unique.
What is the one item of clothing you couldn’t live without?
My black leather jacket by Joseph Ribkoff. I wear it over everything.
What item of clothing would you save from a burning house?
All the jewellery that Alex has bought me, especially my watch and my rings.
